Exponential growth at Toekies

Kenneth Malepe, Programme Manager
"Over the past year the Toekomsrus Department of Carryou Ministry has shown exponential growth," says Programme Manager, Kenneth Malepe. "This is as a result of services offered by our community caregivers, EPWPs, Coordinators, Child and Youth Care Workers and Auxiliary Social Workers."
The Toekomsrus Drop In Centre has become a leading service provider and was recently recognised as the third best provider of it's kind in Gauteng.
 Three programmes are offered:
  •  Toekomsrus HIV/AIDS Support Programme (Drop In Centre)
  •  Isibindi Programme
  •  Victim Empowerment Programme
The impact of these programmes has been enormous. In one year, 12 481 households were visited, 4 839 school visits were conducted and 4 926 people were referred to Auxiliary Social Workers. 453 children and 61 adults received a daily, cooked meal and fifty eight households received monthly food parcels.
In addition, a number of people were helped to obtain ID documents, child grants and disability grants.
"We also succeeded in getting five youngsters from the community, accepted into tertiary education facilities," says Kenneth,
